Kim O’Brien has spent her 35-year career serving the independent insurance channel: first as head of product development and marketing for various insurance companies and second as the leader of trade organizations that advocate for independent insurance professionals, marketing organizations, and general agencies. Over her career Kim has been responsible for developing life insurance and annuity products that serve insurance professionals and leading trade associations advocacy efforts for guaranteed insurance products. Kim was a critical player in the effort to defeat 151a and helped preserve the insurance status of fixed indexed annuities. In addition, Kim was at the forefront of the development of the 2010 NAIC Suitability Model and the amendments to the 2020 NAIC Suitability Model; working with numerous state insurance commissioners to incorporate best interest standards that are feasible and workable for independent agents. Kim has earned her MBA and Paralegal Certificate to assist in the administration of FACC and its advocacy outreach on regulatory and policy initiatives.
